Blinkit’s Pune Dark Store Faces Food Licence Suspension by Maharashtra FDA

Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licence of quick commerce platform Blinkit at its dark store in Pune’s Balewadi area, citing non-compliance with food safety regulations.

The suspension follows increased regulatory scrutiny of dark stores, driven by growing concerns over food safety and hygiene standards in these rapid delivery facilities. During an inspection conducted on June 5, the Maharashtra FDA discovered that the Blinkit facility lacked the required licence from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for the production, distribution, or sale of food items.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of strict adherence to food safety norms, especially as the quick commerce sector continues to expand across urban centers.
